Water, Drink Up.

limeandwater

We’ve all heard it over and over:  drink plenty water.  I’m sure this is old news if you read any kind of general health and wellness boards and/or hair blogs and forums.  This is not a big deal for many and that’s good.  But if that ginger ale is calling you ( like it calls me sometimes), here are some of my favorite twists to spunk up some plain tap:

Citrus Water
Add slices of your fav citrus fruit: lime, lemon or orange to a pitcher of cold H2O.  Remove fruit after a few hours.  The water will have a nice crisp citrus flavor.

Cucumber Water
This is probably my #1 water combo.  Slice some unpeeled cucumber into cool water and let it settle for a few hours.  Remove the cucumbers and enjoy.  So refreshing!

Get creative.  I’ve seen apples added to a citrus mix and even fresh rosemary added to other mixes. Just don’t  leave any of the fruit (or herbs) in the water for more than 24 hours.  They’ll ruin the water if left in too long.

Recently, the chilly weather has me craving warm beverages.  I’m loving fresh ginger or mint steeped in steaming water.  I use a little honey or agave nectar if I want to add a sweetener.

If you still have a hankering for something bubbly, try a mix of one part fruit juice like, cranberry or apple, to one part seltzer water.  It has the  effervescent tingle you might be craving with less sugar than soda.

Drink up and enjoy.

:)
